Hockey Rink Rankings!

Oceanside Arena is currently the home rink for the NCAA Arizona State University hockey team, 2015 National ACHA champions and just beginning their second full season in the NCAA. The place really rocks during ASU/UofA games, and should be on everyone's "to do" list during college hockey season in the Valley. It has recently undergone extensive renovations and improvements and looks brand new! There is a brand new team shop, where finally, after many years, we are able to purchase ASU hockey jerseys, a definite BONUS. Arcadia Ice Arena has been a Phoenix neighborhood fixture since the 1960's. it is the home to a hockey league, and features clinics, camps, and a full schedule of public skating sessions. they are also involved in a program that teaches kids about hockey and gets them started in the sport. They are the official home of Bobcats hockey, a youth travel hockey team. The building is well maintained, and has recently had some major improvements. A unique feature is the Ice House Tavern, a sports bar housed on the east end of the building, where the rink is viewable through a one way window. | Read more

Ice Den chandler, formerly polar ice chandler, has been under new ownership since early 2014. The owners of Ice Den in scottsdale purchased the former polar ice facility in January 2014. even before the new ownership, this was one of the nicer rinks for youth hockey in the area. There is a full youth hockey program, as well as a public skating schedule, off-ice workout facilities, and a full pro shop. | Read more

az ice gilbert, formerly polar ice gilbert, has been purchased by AZ ice, owner of the Arcadia ice arena in phoenix. when this rink was still polar ice gilbert, we spent many hours here for hockey practice as well as games. the ice was always iffy, and it used to amaze me that i could stand along the boards, look down at the ice, and see the coils and apparatus under the ice. the purchase of this rink by the new owners was completed in May of 2014. the goal, say the new owners, is to turn this rink, in addition to the arcadia rink and the former polar ice peoria (also purchased by this group) into elite training centers and to establish a strong youth hockey program.| Read more

az ice peoria, formerly polar ice peoria, has been purchased by AZ ice, owner of the Arcadia ice arena in phoenix. This is the second ice arena recently purchased by az ice. the purchase of this rink by the new owners was completed in early 2014. the goal of AZ ice is to make ice skating more acceptable for all ages, as well as more cost effective. the owners want to shore up the peoria rink and "bring it back to life". | Read more
